Clinical Ambulatory Anesthesia
Clinical Anaesthesia 2nd Edition
Clinical Anesthesia 5th Edition
This is the 5th edition of this major American textbook. In their introduction, the editors restate the original aim of this book: ‘to develop a textbook that supports efficient and rapid acquisition of knowledge’. They also state that this edition has undergone extensive revision in content and format and that the authors have been encouraged to emphasize the clinical themes and options in their chapters.
This is a large textbook, running to more than 1500 pages, with a total of 59 chapters in the 6 sections.
Concise Anatomy for Anaesthesia
Anatomy is an important subject for anaesthetists, both for examination purposes and for securing a good knowledge base for interventional procedures such as tracheal intubation, nerve blockade and vascular access. What anaesthetists want from an anatomy book is essential but correct information, presented in a succinct way with clear, self‐explanatory diagrams. In this book, Andreas Erdmann has created a small gem of an anatomy book, condensed into only 123 pages, half of which are illustrations, such that each page of text is placed opposite a page of relevant illustrations.
Critical Care Anesthesia
This book is the eighth of a series called Requisites in Anesthesiology. Others in the series are Adult Perioperative Anesthesia, Cardiac and Vascular Anesthesia, Regional Anesthesia, Obstetric and Gynaecologic Anesthesia, Pain Medicine and Ambulatory Anesthesia; and the series editor is Roberta Hines from Yale University. Although I have not seen the other books in the series, it obviously has the makings of a complete set of texts which could replace the other single or multivolume traditional textbooks of anaesthesia.
Essential Clinical Anesthesia
The book is divided into 29 sections and 184 chapters. Most of the chapters are much shorter than traditional texts at two to four pages each, allowing for short periods of focused study. This will appeal to the trainee or specialist in need of a brief revision of the area. There are good reviews of the basic science elements relating to anaesthetic pharmacology, physiology, monitoring, and applied physics. Thereafter, all of the major areas of anaesthetic practice in adults and children are covered, including surgery for all body areas
Examination Anaesthesia 2nd Edition

Manual of Anesthesia Practice Pocket Clinician
The Manual of Anesthesia Practice is published by the Cambridge University Press, in their Pocket Clinician series of books, although with the demise of the white coat few of us will possess a pocket big enough for this tome. The authors have targeted the book at medical students, residents, and also for clinicians as a quick reference at the point of care.
